Today Hustlers legend Gervasio Ridder joined an exclusive club in BBA history, the 400 homer club. It was in the fourth inning against Mexico City here at The Casino by Moe Fugger, when with two outs and no one on base when Ridder unloaded the historic shot to deep right-center field off Aztecs' starter Denis Pham .
"I just wanted to get a good swing on the ball all day," Ridder said. "And I did."
Aztecs manager Mark Bruner was complimentary of Ridder. "You could see he was aggressive up there," said Bruner. "The worst thing we did was throw him a strike. It probably would have been better if we threw the ball outside of the strike zone every time he came to the plate because he seemed like he was in a hurry to get it over with."
Ridder is hitting .325 during his 1823-game career. He has 2332 hits, 458 doubles, 19 triples, 400 home runs, 1339 RBIs, 6 stolen bases and 1179 runs scored. Ridder is the 66th member of the BBA 400 Home Run Club and the second to join this year, joining Brooklyn first baseman Cisco Guerrero who hit his 400th on April 18th.
