Injuries Continue To Hound Pitchers
June 1, 2037

Pitching injuries are "just part of the game", according to Hustlers GM Matt Rectenwald. "It is what it is," explained Rectenwald. "These guys throw hard and it's not a natural motion for the arm, elbow and shoulder. Things are bound to happen."

Still, it seems that the Hustlers get bit quite often. Take a look at the first couple months of the 2037 season.

Sunday, March 1st, 2037
SP Manuel Orozco was injured while pitching. The Diagnosis: Herniated disc (back). He's expected to miss about one week.
First warning- back injuries often lead to more.

Monday, March 23rd, 2037
SP Manuel Orozco was injured while pitching. The Diagnosis: Sore back. This is a day-to-day injury expected to last 6 days.
And his back is bad again? Uh oh....

Thursday, March 26th, 2037
RP Ryosei Akahori was injured while pitching. The Diagnosis: Wrist soreness. This is a day-to-day injury expected to last 2 weeks.
We put the young lefty straight on the DL after this one. Not taking any chances here.

Tuesday, April 7th, 2037
RP Manuel Orozco was injured while pitching. The Diagnosis: Torn rotator cuff. He's expected to miss about 11-12 months.
And....here it comes. The first big domino falls and the depth we had in our rotation is now gone for the year.

Sunday, April 19th, 2037
SP Chin Kim was injured while pitching. The Diagnosis: Herniated disc (neck). He's expected to miss about 2 weeks.
In the wake of Orozco's injury we really didn't need this, but with an off day we were able to work around it.

Tuesday, April 21st, 2037
RP Wayne Muirhead was injured while pitching. The Diagnosis: Sprained ankle. He's expected to miss about 5 weeks.
The fourth of our lefty relievers, it looked as if he was starting to put things together. Now we'll have to wait until June to see if his talent will shine through.

Friday, May 1st, 2037
SP Gerardo Fajardo was injured while pitching. The Diagnosis: Strained abdominal muscle. This is a day-to-day injury expected to last 3 weeks.
Fajardo injured again? No way! Off to the DL you go, hopefully we'll avoid more injuries that way from this guy.

Thursday, May 7th, 2037
SP Alvin Chartrand was injured while pitching. The Diagnosis: Strained back. This is a day-to-day injury expected to last 2 weeks.
After a strong start he was starting to struggle. Maybe this is why? As is our policy, we put him on the Disabled List as we are extremely cautious with day-to-day injuries.

Thursday, May 14th, 2037
SP John Hughes was injured while pitching. The Diagnosis: Torn UCL. He's expected to miss about 12 months.
So with both Fajardo and Chartrand on the DL and Orozco already there we needed someone to start. Hughes comes up and faces the San Antonio Outlaws in his major league debut, earning the win with six strong innings. Hustlers manager Edward Allen elected to bring him back out for the seventh, and after walking Andy Seekins to begin the inning he called for the trainer. Torn UCL. Unreal.

Wednesday, May 20th, 2037
SP Gerardo Fajardo was injured while pitching. The Diagnosis: Finger blister. This is a day-to-day injury expected to last 6 days.
Did we somehow sign Tully Crow and he changed his name to Gerardo Fajardo? Seriously. Off to the bullpen you go. Pitch through it, sissy.

Fajardo has had blister problems through a lot of his career. He lost several innings in Yellow Springs to them.

He got absolutely lit up in his last bullpen appearance. Ick.
