Hustlers Season Ends
October 22, 2036
The Hustlers were expected to be in a "re-tooling" season in 2036, and with that in mind the fact that they made it to a Game 7 in the Doubleday Series with the eventual champion Rockville Pikemen was a plus.
However, no loss ever seems like a plus and therefore the season feels like a letdown. "We were better than this," said first baseman Gervasio Ridder. "To lose that game in the manner we did was upsetting."
The Hustlers were smoked by the Pikemen 12-5 in the deciding Game 7 to put their year to an end. Hao Kun took the loss allowing six runs in four and a third innings and was replaced by reliever Alphonse Salvarani who then allowed five more runs while just recording two outs. "I let the team down," said a visibly dejected Kun. "It was my job to be the ace and I couldn't get it done."
Now the focus moves to 2037 and there are a lot of decisions to be made. More on that shortly.
