Carter retires, Ridder to explore FA
November 10, 2036

The Hustlers were informed by veteran pitcher Floyd Carter that he would be retiring. The pending free agent knuckleballer spent the last two years with the Las Vegas organization after not pitching in the big leagues in 2034. "It was rewarding to see that I still had something in the tank," Carter said. "I can wrap up my career knowing that I gave it everything I had."

Carter was a big part of the 2036 pitching staff, eating up 162 2/3 innings with a 5.09 ERA. Metrics showed he pitched a little better than those numbers showed, with a 4.93 FIP and 1.28 WHIP. Out of 46 appearances he started 18 games with a 7-7 record and 2 saves, showing his versatility. He ends his career with a 180-157 record, 3.97 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 1856 strikeouts.

Meanwhile, the Hustlers braced for the decision of Gervasio Ridder on his player optional contract year for 2037, and as expected, he declined the option and will become a free agent. If he indeed switches teams Ridder will end his Hustlers career plastered all over the teams career leaderboards:
Batting Average: .327 (tied-1st)

Floyd Carter had some nice years for me in the middle '20's. Still would be good in my rotation.

IT's going to be a very interesting free agency process this year.
