WHIV 2036.10- 2036 Hustlers- Offensive Juggernaut?
2036 Hustlers- Offensive Juggernaut?
April 29, 2036
Almost through the first month of the season, the Las Vegas Hustlers are off to an 18-8 start. Not bad for a team that many thought were on a downward trajectory.
Their offense has been carrying them thus far, leading the Johnson League in AVG (.293), OBP (.374), SLG (.519), OPS (.893), Runs (181), Hits (265), Home Runs (50), and Stolen Bases (39).
The veterans Gervasio Ridder (1.6 WAR) and Hank Brewer (1.4 WAR) have been their usual superstar selves, but the difference has been three players.
First, Free Agent signing Jayden Harsnett has been tearing it up. With 7 homers, 29 RBI and a .326/.440/.629 slash line all while playing a solid right field, he's making the naysayers eat their words. Next, Henry Rectenberg seems to be finally putting it together. HE's hit 9 homers, driven in 29 with a .320/.437/.691 slash line and 1.5 WAR while serving exclusively as the designated hitter for the Hustlers. Finally, center fielder Juan Sweetworld has been playing very well (.316/.356/.469, 0.8 WAR) and earning his big contract thus far in the 2036 season.
Also the left field platoon of Brian Bender (.333/.396/.592) and Mario Murillo (.375/.474/.625) has been amazing as they have combined for a 1.1 WAR so far.
With Brewer on the shelf for the next six weeks with a fractured thumb, the Hustlers will have to fill his production both at the plate and behind it. For now, journeyman Robinson Lopez will get the bulk of the playing time, with youngster Benjamin Clark expected to join the club and get some work behind the dish as well. Neither is even close to Brewer, so the club will hope for more production from the rest of the lineup. In particular, the third base platoon of Kazuo Yamamoto and Antonio Baca needs to step up their game.

they wouldn't really be a true Hustlers team if they couldn't hit, right?

Yeah.... It's a little tough seeing Harsnett going off like this. I mean, take a look at his time in TWC and he's never even came close to this production. I think his average WAR was like 1.5 over 6 years.
At least he's earning his money so far.

my initial thought was that he was just crushing at Moe Fugger, but he's OPSing over 1.200 on the road!

Re: WHIV 2036.10- 2036 Hustlers- Offensive Juggernaut?
His offensive surge started last season, I was trying to move him early on, but no one was biting. He was hitting so well, I almost kept him when SF’s Center fielder got injured.
The TWC owner had been wanting me to get rid of him for three season. One season, he gave me a goal of ditching Harsnett and the other two seasons was just “upgrade Centerfield.”
Then I faced SF in the playoffs and Harsnett tore us up and the guy we got in return, Ganoa, laid an egg... lol.
It’s like Harsnett is rubbing our face in it.

Henry Rectenbergs contract is a juggernaut. A 5 year extension with two team options smack dab in the middle? Never seen that before.
