WHIV 2035.25- Braun traded- who plays SS now?

Braun Traded To Seattle
July 14, 2035

In a surprise move, the Las Vegas Hustlers made a major trade with the Seattle Storm, sending away their shortstop and team captain Lloyd Braun. Fans and experts alike were taken off guard by the move, which was completely unexpected.

Clearly the Hustlers were looking toward impending salary cap doom with this deal, which helps that situation but creates a new dilemma. Who plays shortstop and how does that affect the rest of the infield?

Manager Matthew Barnard announced that, pending any further moves, rookie Michel Lambert would play shortstop against RHP, and Antonio Cruz would move to shortstop against LHP. This means rookie star Antonio Baca will play second base, a position he hasn't played much of in his career, against righties, with Mario Murillo playing there against lefties. Baca moves back to third base against lefties, with rookie Kazuo Yamamoto being called up for his first major league action at the hot corner against righties.

Sound like a lot of movement from just one trade? It is, but there's more. Because Murillo moves from left field to second base against lefties, it means Henry Rectenberg will play left field against LHP now. In addition, the Hustlers sent star relief pitcher Augute Balun down to AAA Milwaukee a couple weeks ago in order to get him playing time at both third base and second base.

Whew. That's a lot to take in.

So with all that said, who did the Hustlers get in the deal with Seattle? Two very interesting infield prospects. The headliner is Quant Kouros who is a "second baseman". The Hustlers plan to give him every opportunity to stick there even though he projects to be subpar in the field. The real attraction is his combination of hitting skill and eye, as the Hustlers think the Greek native could be a OBP machine in the future. He immediately comes into the Las Vegas system as their #2 prospect.

The other player is a promising 18 year old third baseman, Santiago Castillo. Not only does he have a good defensive skill set for the hot corner, but he also projects to have a nice projection at the plate. He enters the Vegas prospect rankings at #11.
