2035 Las Vegas Hustlers- Sim #7 in Review

5/12- Outlaws Subdue Las Vegas, 5-4
Paul Warren was instrumental in his team's 5-4 triumph over the Las Vegas Hustlers. The shortstop went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the San Antonio Outlaws. Sebastien Durand, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. The Outlaws now own a record of 15-23. San Antonio took a 5-4 lead on Dan Leonard's 43rd hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Leonard hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Las Vegas pitcher Maximo Trevino shaking his head. "We had the game right there for the taking," said Las Vegas manager Matthew Barnard. "But we decided not to take it." Antonio Baca was a bright spot for Vegas in the loss, going 3-4 at the plate with his first homer of the year.

5/13- 7-2 Hustlers Win over Jackrabbits Evens Season Record
The Las Vegas Hustlers got a strong performance from pitcher Hirotada Miura , who stymied the Edmonton offense en route to a 7-2 win at The Casino by Moe Fugger. In 8 innings, Miura surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. The Hustlers bumped their record to 19-19 with this latest triumph. Henry Rectenberg, who is tied for 8th in the JL in triples with 2, chipped in for Las Vegas with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI. "We looked pretty good up and down," said Las Vegas manager Matthew Barnard. Brian Bender , Lloyd Braun and Gervasio Ridder all hit homers for the Hustlers.

5/14- Hustlers Topple Jackrabbits with Late Rally
The Las Vegas Hustlers overcame a good performance by Edmonton center fielder Luis Costello to knock off Edmonton, 5-4, at The Casino by Moe Fugger. Costello went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The Hustlers bumped their record to 20-19 with this latest triumph. Elroy Hinson, who is a eight-time All-Star, chipped in for Las Vegas with a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in. "We cashed in when we had the chance," said Las Vegas manager Matthew Barnard. Jimmy Greenwood had a great start wasted when Jose Reyes blew his first save opportunity of the year, but after the rally Orlando Rivera was able to earn the win for Vegas. Braun and Mario Murillo also hit homers for the Hustlers.

5/15- Jackrabbits Lose to Hustlers, 7-2
The Las Vegas Hustlers defeated the Edmonton Jackrabbits, 7-2, in Johnson League action at The Casino by Moe Fugger, with Las Vegas pitcher Hyun-sik Chang named player of the game. Las Vegas now has a 3-game win streak. Lloyd Braun swatted a 2-run home run for Las Vegas in the bottom of the second, giving him a three game homer streak! The shortstop went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 3. Braun called the triumph "a good team win." Chang went the distance, allowing just two runs on five hits. Ridder (14) and Hector Gomez (1) hit homers for Vegas.

5/16- DAY OFF

5/17- Hustlers Subdue Atlantic City, 4-2
Las Vegas Hustlers starter Chin Kim was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Atlantic City Gamblers, 4-2. Las Vegas now has a 4-game win streak. Mario Murillo, who is a two-time All-Star, aided the Las Vegas cause with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. "We did a lot of things right," said Kim. Augute Balun had his third hold of the year and Shawn Huber locked up the win with his tenth save.

5/18- Hustlers Top Gamblers Behind Romero, 5-2
Las Vegas starter Sam Romero pitched effectively against the Atlantic City Gamblers at The Casino by Moe Fugger. The right-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. The third-place Hustlers have won 5 in a row. Romero's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 8 strikeouts in 8.1 innings while allowing 1 hit. Romero, who is tied for 10th in the JL with a 5 quality starts, goes to 2-4 on the year with 39 strikeouts. Romero expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end." Juan Sweetworld was the offensive star, going 3-4 with two stolen bases, bringing him to 11 steals on the year.
