The Las Vegas Hustlers won the 2005 Landis Memorial Series Championship, defeating the Baltimore Monarchs 4 games to 1.
"It was a hard fought series, and we tip our hats to the Monarchs," Hustlers manager Elroy Futon said.
Besides being a Hall of Fame player, Futon has now won three championships in five seasons of managing. He's made the playoffs in all five seasons and has an overall record of 477-334 (.588) in regular season action.
"Elroy is establishing himself as a Hall of Fame level manager as well," marveled Hustlers GM Matt Rectenwald.
Benjamin Rivero was named the Hustlers most outstanding batter for the postseason. He hit 8 homers in 17 games, driving in 24 while batting .364 (1.188 OPS).
The most outstanding pitcher was Christopher Stoller. "Trooper" was 4-2 in 6 starts, 48.2 innings, 5 walks, 47 strikeouts, and a 2.77 ERA. He was brilliant against Baltimore, winning both of his starts against the Monarchs.
