WHIV 2054.5- Ten Up, Nine Down

2054- The Top 10 Most Valuable Hustlers
10. Ramon Gonzalez (1.5)
The fact that he is tenth speaks not only to the greatness of Gonzalez's ten starts with the Hustlers , but also to just how weak the list is.

9. Steffan Gimsing (1.7)
Through June, Gimsing was 13-2 and a Johnson League All-Star. He made just seven more starts the rest of the year due to injury.

8. Stewart Turton (2.0)
He might have been higher if not playing somewhat out of position at shortstop (-6.3 ZR in 110 games, versus +3.5 ZR in 42 games at second base) due to need, a move that may have damaged the whole pitching staff. A hot September (362/.384/.500/.884, 3 homers, 23 RBI) salvaged a mostly "meh" offensive campaign.

6 (tie) Gamal bin Badr (2.1)
This graphic should more than explain the maddening inconsistency that is the bin Badr experience.

6 (tie) Pepe Prieto (2.1)
This seems to be becoming a theme of up and down performances. Three very hot months, three very disappointing months.

5. Eli Landgre (2.2)
A few thoughts here regarding the fifth most valuable player to the Hustlers in 2054, and how he completely encapsulates the 2054 Las Vegas season.
- Who the hell is Eli Landgre, exactly?
- He really played in just 94 games and was the fifth best player?
- Good grief.

4. Gerald Sizemore (2.8)
Without any fanfare, I present to you the month by month splits for our highest paid starting pitcher:

3. Kidane Ata (2.9)
Ata is 37 years old and still a feared hitter. He has a career centerfield ZR of +129.4. This year, it was -4.0, the only time he's ever been negative. What I'm trying to say is that he is going to have to move to a corner outfield spot moving forward. What that means is there is now a gaping hole at both centerfield and shortstop for the Hustlers, two of the four crucial defensive spots.

2. Alfonso Trinidad (5.8)
Despite any true defensive value, Trinidad still managed to finish with 5.8. He was JL Batter of the Month for September, and put together perhaps the best offensive season of his career.

1. Tom Rudge (6.7 WAR)
Can't say enough about Rudge. He'll certainly get plenty of Silk Award votes, but probably most of them will be in the 3rd-5th place range, which is still quite impressive. He'll probably win the Zimmer Award for right field, and he'll probably win a Puckett Award too. Hit his 300th career dinger this year, now with 56.9 career WAR, 2259 hits, 507 doubles, 1156 RBI, 1312 runs, 760 walks, 440 steals. Looks to have at least a couple good years left- could he be sneaking his way into Hall of Fame consideration?

2054- The Bottom 9: Least Valuable Hustlers

Not much to say about these guys that the numbers don't already speak to.
1. Alex Brayton -0.4
2. Cecil Clarke -0.3
3 (tie) Jacob Smiley -0.2
3 (tie) Dusty Crouch -.02
5 (tie) Ron Noftall -0.1
5 (tie) Will Griffin -0.1
5 (tie) Bradley Ottaway -0.1
5 (tie) Kenny Kelly -0.1
5 (tie) Jin-soo Chong -0.1

I feel your pain regarding pitchers who are great for 3 starts, suck for two, rince and repeat.
