It took the full 162 games, but the Las Vegas Hustlers are back in the postseason for the second year in a row. The Hustlers needed Jacksonville to defeat the Huntsville Phantoms in addition to their resounding 14-3 victory against the San Antonio Missions to lock up a Johnson League Wild Card spot.

Hao Kun (17-11) pitched a solid 8 2/3 innings and was backed up by an offensive explosion led by designated hitter Eliseu Satino who was 3-3 with two walks, five runs scored, four runs batted in, and two homers on the day- all told racking up nine total bases on the day. "It feels good to get this one," Satino told the Las Vegas Observer.

Vegas will now wait to see who they face in the Geoghegan Round. Much of the playoff shakeout will be decided by the fate of Mexico City, who still has FIVE makeup games to play. "Those rainouts sure are convenient for teams like us that had to use their ace on the last day of the year and will now have plenty of time to reset our rotation," said manager Edward Allen. "Let them keep having their rainouts. It only helps the rest of us and hurts them."

I need to investigate further but my initial reaction is that I don't think I would've made the playoffs without the rainouts backloading my schedule. It took forever for my team to start playing well this season.
