To Des Moines:
3B Randy Square
CF Diego Perez (AA)
To Las Vegas:
LF Benjamin Rivero
Square had really been in a season long slump that he hadn't been able to get out of. The Hustlers had been shopping him all season to no avail. His arby salary has increased greatly and they really couldn't afford to keep him anymore, especially at his current production.
Benjamin Rivero is a player that Las Vegas has long coveted. They tried making a play for him last season before Seattle shipped him to Des Moines, to no avail. Like Square, he was a highly paid player who was slumping. Unlike Square, he is a potential free agent to be who was not negotiating with the Kernels. The Hustlers decided it was worth it to take a chance to get him, and hope that come September Rivero would talk (as of now, he's still not talking). IN order to make it happen, the Kernels insisted on another player being thrown in. After some discussion of young hurler David Crocker, who the Hustlers didn't want to deal, Diego Perez was identified and the deal was made.

I really wish I had been able to get Crocker, but alas. Square started off very well, but has slumped of late. This was a pretty classic change of scenery deal, though.
