Gilliam to Coach in Havana

The Calgary Pioneers announced that they have hired retired pitcher Edwin Gilliam to be the new pitching coach for their Short A team in Havana. This will be Gilliam's first coaching position and brings him back to the BBA after a more than ten year retirement.

Gilliam was drafted by Calgary in the first round of the 2033 draft. He made his debut in 2037 as a member of the team's starting rotation, where he remained for 9 seasons. His record for Calgary was 110-80, 4.09 in 275 starts. He was selected to 3 all star teams and won a Zimmer Award for fielding. Only one of his 9 seasons in Calgary was a losing one.''

"When Edwin was at his prime, 2040-41 or so, I got more calls asked about a trade for him than probably any other guy we've had," Calgary GM Kevin Dickson said. "I am glad we finally were able to work it out for him to rejoin the organization."

Gilliam will rejoin teammate "Chairman" Mao in Havana who is the team's hitting coach. Newly hired Tony Horton is the manager for the Cigars.

I hired two retired players as coaches this year but neither of them have something as cool as a perfect game on their resume.
