Team Extends Contracts of 3

After freeing up salary cap space with the release of SP Leon Ludeman, the Calgary Pioneers have managed to extend the contracts of 3 players thus avoiding arbitration.

LF Jeff Sawyers - The slugger inked a 1 year $3 million extension.
Sawyers has hit 19 HR during each of the last 2 seasons after clubbing 39 during his rookie season. However, his OBA is one of the best on the team and that held true with a .369 this season. For a player that posted a .883 OPS the salary is a bargain. Sawyers has probably seen his last days in the outfield, where he has a -25 ZR over his 4 years in the league. The team will most likely be moving him to 1B or DH for the 2062 season.

SP Edward Harrison - The hurler signed a 3 year $7.9 million extension which will keep him in Calgary through 2064. He has been inconsistent both in he original role in the bullpen and his spot in the rotation over the past 2 seasons. He was superb in his rookie year, 4-4-30, 1.59 ERA and adequate in 2059 when he moved into the rotation, 12-9, 3.93. This year was dismal. Depending on the moves that Calgary makes in the off season he could keep his spot in the rotation or move back to the bullpen.

RP Mitch Bond - Once a highly rated SP prospect, Bond was a bust in that role. However, he seems to have found a spot in the bullpen and was rewarded with a 3 year $8.8 million extension. His 5th season in the league was his best, 8-3-1, 4,02 ERA. Those might not seem like great numbers, but remembmer his is in the worst bullpen in the league. So compared to the rest......

The team still has not come to agreements with the following arbitration eligible players:

C Sam Butler
2B Bill Irvine
RF Michael Little
C Pedro Flores

If I don't trade them I will probably just sign them to a 1 year deal. That way I will at least get a comp pick.
