Stinson Stays in Calgary!
The Pioneers fans got some good news today when star slugger Larry Stinson inked a 4 year $75 million contract extension. This nullifies his player option for this season and means he is locked up for 4 more years and an option for a 5th.
“I am really glad we were able to get this done with Larry. He is the glue that holds our offense together,” said GM Kevin Dickson. “This means that he will most likely retire a Pioneer.”
Stinson has been the most reliable bat for the team over the past 6 seasons. He regular hits over .300, with over 40 homers and 100 rbis.
“I really didn’t want to go through all the drama of the free agent market and Calgary has become my home,” Stinson said. “I enjoyed me time in San Antonio, but my family enjoys life in Calgary and it is home now. Plus now I can root for Adam to get the big bucks in free agency and not have to compete with him.”
He was referring to designated hitter Adam Backhouse who opted out of his contract with Calgary along with third baseman Alfredo Rosas. This also opens up another $22 million in cap space for 2054 so expect Calgary to use it finding some replacement talent.
