2052-6 Cochran Retiring?

Cochran Retiring?

Well it is that time of year again, will he or won’t he. Speculation is rampant that this will be the year that Calgary manager Terry Cochran hangs it up. The 67 year old has managed Calgary for 22 years and has only made the postseasons once in the last four years.

“I don’t know what he is going to do. You guys ask me the same question every year and I tell you the same thing. Ask Terry,” said GM Kevin Dickson.

Cochran was drafted by Calgary in 2004 and has been in the system every year since. His playing career lasted from 2008 to 2023 and he joined the club as a minor league coach in 2024. He has made the playoffs 12 times with Calgary and even made it to the finals twice, but never won the crown. Twice he won championships while managing AAA and he won to BBA championships as a player, but never from the bench.

Cochran’s career record in Calgary is 1898-1661. He is in 3rd place in career wins in BBA history and will easily move into second place if he comes back in 2053, passing Ray Williamson’s 1929 wins. He will not challenge the top manager in league history, Travis McDermott, who won 2365 in 38 seasons.

If Cochran hangs it up Nicholas Brody, the team’s bench coach, could take over. Some think the team may go with Terry Franco, currently the manager at AA Duluth.
