2051-7 What Could Have Been

What Could Have Been

Due to injury, Larry Stinson only played in 117 games this season. He finished the season leading the JL with a .694 SLG and a 1.109 OPS. He was 3rd with a .346 BA and in 6th place with 42 home runs. He was selected as the JL Player of the Week 4 times and chosen for the All Star team.

To cap things off, Stinson will win his 7th Puckett Award and finish 3rd in the Sawyer Silk voting. Imagine what he could have done if he had played in his typical 160 games instead of missing 27% of the season?

Stinson’s stats:

These are the averages that wouldn’t change
.346 BA
.415 OBA
.694 SLG
1.109 OPS

Now lets look at the raw stats he posted and what could have been
97 runs
158 hits
31 doubles
42 home runs
111 rbi

Now here is what it looks like if he had played 160 games…
133 runs
216 hits
42 doubles
57 home runs
152 rbi

That would have been a really fun season.

How did his year rank in Calgary history?
Best OPS and SLG in team history for a season
6th best AVG for a season
5th best OBA for a season

Teammate Adam Backhouse also made the team’s season leader lists. His 150 RBIs were the 4th best in team history and his 379 Total Bases ranks 7th best.

Looking at his career stats, seems like all the injury time in 2051 was an aberration. Better luck next season!
