Trinidad Deserves Comeback Award

When the votes are cast for Comeback Player of the Year, Alfonso Trinidad should see his name on many ballots. Trinidad’s really found his bat, after the All Star break, culminating with an astounding September. In the final month of the season, Trinidad hit .357, 10 home runs and a 1.140 OPS.

Trinidad came back from a severe knee injury in 2047, to post pedestrian numbers in 2048. He only hit 15 home runs with a .742 OPS, the lowest of his career. One of the best run producers on the team, he only drove in 50 runs. Calgary management wondered if they needed to look elsewhere at 3B.

Then this year Trinidad came back to form, hitting .301, 36 HR, 93 RBI, .909 OPS and 5.1 WAR. It was his best season since 2045. Trinidad is under contract for 3 more seasons.

“Fonzi is one of the pillars of our offense. With Stinson, Fonzi and Thomas we have a great middle of the lineup,” manager Terry Cochran said. “I hope we don’t tear down this team, we really are better than our record.”
