When the Pioneers picked up Francisco Medina from Las Vegas on a midyear deal, fans were excited to have the power hitter back at the Stockyard. Medina rewarded the fans with a 9th inning game winning homer in his first game back with the team. Unfortunately the reunion went downhill from there.

For Calgary this year Medina hit .200 with only 7 home runs. With younger hitters waiting in the wings for playing time, it is doubtful that the team will sign him to an extension. Pioneer GM Kevin Dickson, would not comment when asked about Medina’s future.

In 12 seasons with the team, Medina has hit 437 home runs third most in team history. His league leading 61 homers in 2042 is second best in team history and his 427 total bases that year are the best of anyone in a Calgary uniform.
