Calgary Sets Attendance Record
The Pioneers led the BBA in attendance this season as 4,394,246 fans came to see the team play. That also broke the team record for attendance in a season. Calgary topped Yellow Springs by only 2,447 fans. The team averaged 54,250 fans per game.
“I think our fans knew all along how good this team was and we are going to reward them with a championship,” GM Kevin Dickson said. The 85-77 team had just won the Cartwright Series and is poised to play Omaha for all the marbles.
This season was the 6th time the Pioneers topped 4 million fans. The first time was in 2019, the year after they won the Landis. Four times in the past Six years the team has topped the mark with the previous record being set in 2041 with 4,208,058 fans in attendance.
When asked if the team would be raising ticket prices next year Dickson said that was a discussion for the offseason. Calgary’s ticket prices rank in the middle of the league. If nothing else, between ticket sales this year and the team’s performance, Calgary is hoping to sell more season tickets and merchandise next year.
