Another Disappointing Season in Calgary

As has become typical, Calgary made a fast exit from the playoffs once again. The team will draft 28th out of 32 and has an empty shelf where trophies are supposed to sit. Always a threat for a wild card, but never a threat for a Landis, is what many fans are saying. So just how good is the team at finishing bad?

The last time the team won the championship was in 2021. Over 2 decades without a Landis trophy. The team came close in 2039, but lost to Jacksonville in the Landis round. Over the past 10 seasons the team has averaged 86 wins per season, has more than 90 wins 4 times and won 103 in 2041. Five of those seasons Calgary has made the postseason, only once as the division winner.

So is Calgary doomed to being almost good enough to win it all? We asked GM Kevin Dickson.

“Well we won over 90 games the past 2 years and we just had too many guys have a bad series again,” Dickson said. “Last year we had the pitching and this year our hitting let us down. Well so did the pitching actually. All I know is that are team can beat anybody when the cards fall our way.”

Some fans are more skeptical.

“All I know is that I know I can always go fishing the second week in October and I don’t have to worry about missing a Pioneers game,” said Mr. Bater a life long Calgary fan.

Another fan, Ima L. Oser said, “I have watched the Marauders since I was just a kid. We used to be good.”

Of course the team has been called the Pioneers for a long time. Mrs. Oser also asked if that Iraq boy was still playing.

So another offseason of explanations and excuses awaits the Calgary fans. Will the team make any big moves on the field or off? Probably not, so look forward to another 85-90 win year next year and don’t bother to look at the leader boards, because they will be empty of any Pioneers.
