2 Longtime Calgary Coaches Retire

The Pioneers announced that two of the longest tenured coaches in their organization have decided to retire. Allen Lemasters, Calgary’s bench coach and Pat CurryPat Curry, the hitting coach at Saint Paul, retirements will create major holes in the organization’s coaching staff and be difficult to replace.

“We were expecting Allen to step down this year or next, but Pat caught us completely by surprise,” said GM Kevin Dickson. “Pat would have been one of the guys that we looked at to move up to Calgary after Allen retired.

Lemasters has been with the Calgary organization since 2014. During his career he has spent time with every minor league team in the system except one. He spent 18 years as the bench coach in Calgary. In 29 years his teams made the playoffs 18 times and won and won 5 championships, including 2 Landis titles.

Curry broke in with Calgary in 2006 and played over 1400 games over 12 seasons. He still holds the team record for at bats with 704 in 2010. He started out his coaching career in 2023 as the hitting coach at Rookie league Chestermere. He then spent a couple of seasons in Quebec before taking over the hitting coach duties in Saint Paul in 2032. He teams made the playoffs 8 times during his 20 year coaching career.

Lemaster and Curry tenure, as player and coach, total 61 years of experience with Calgary. That is a lot of knowledge heading out the door.
