Calgary Hires New Trainer

Long time Pioneer Trainer Arrighetto Costacurta announced he was retiring from the game and moving to back to Florence, Italy. Calgary announced that Doug Sweatman has been hired to replace him.

Costacurta had been with the team for several years and was known for his skill with pitchers. His final project was working with injured star Cristobal Hernandez. Hernandez was expected to miss most of the season with a torn UCL, but with his magic Costacurta has him on track to be ready for opening day.

Even though he had indicated to the team that he was thinking about retirement, it still caught the team by surprise. It wasn’t the first off season that he had talked about it. After making it to the Landis he decided to hang it up.

"I've been wanting to see the sea," said Costacurta. "I lived by the river, I like to travel to the coast. Here in Calgary there is no seas. Too cold."

Sweatman had been with the Louisville Sluggers since 2033 and at 42 years old should be with Calgary for a long while. Like Costacurta he has a good reputation working with pitchers. In his 7 years in Louisville he went through 3 General Managers. Calgary last had a GM change in 2004.

Costacurta’s quote about the sea is priceless. A tip of the cap, sir!
