Calgary Milestone Updates

Terry Cochran (.285/.361/.502, 491 HR, 1502 RBI) - When we last checked in Cochran had 480 HR and was tied with Gary Barr (.307/.352/.501, 480 HR, 1734 RBI) for 16th place. He finished the season with 491 and 15th place, passing Gary Barr (.307/.352/.501, 480 HR, 1734 RBI) and Jake “should be in the HOF” Urban’s 490. Next om the list are 14th Dwayne Johnson (.286/.362/.513, 498 HR, 1572 RBI) 498,13th Joe Belinda (.262/.307/.551, 508 HR, 1407 RBI) 508 and 12th Jim Wilson (also should be in HOF) at 535. Cochran’s production has slowed down to about a 20 HR average per year so he should pass Johnson next season and maybe Belinda. He is 46 HR away from making the top 10, which is still a possibility.

On the RBI list Cochran was 25th with 1474 when last we checked. He finished the season with 1502 good for 23rd place. So this year he passed Roman Empire (.319/.412/.478, 323 HR, 1450 RBI) 1450, John Bockus (.286/.344/.529, 374 HR, 1459 RBI) 1459, David Birth 1484, Hurley Reyes (.252/.327/.457, 469 HR, 1487 RBI) 1487 and Donnie Rotten (.275/.351/.503, 475 HR, 1497 RBI) 1497. He has an almost guaranteed shot to move into 18th by the end of next season and is 70 RBI away from 16th.

Perry Eccles (214 - 151, 3.93 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 2725 K) - Eccles started the year with 205 wins. He only managed 9 wins to give him 214 as the Marauders faded. That was good enough to move to 22nd all time passing Jim Schmidt (206 - 109, 3.76 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 2093 K) 206, Eddie Harris (208 - 158, 3.68 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 2794 K) 208, Damian Bedgood (209 - 141, 3.82 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 2781 K) 209, Mark Bobovnik (210 - 100, 2.69 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 2808 K) 210, Tom Madonald (212 - 120, 3.65 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 2718 K) 212 and tied with Jerry Syed (214 - 120, 2.91 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 2747 K)’s 214. Those are some really good pitchers. 10 more wins would put him 15th all time. The question is will he be doing it with Calgary.

Jonathan Sorensen (77 - 86, 2.85 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 1143 K) - After spending 3 years in a setup role Sorensen got the chance to add to his season starting 453 saves moving back into the closer spot. At 40 years old he made the All Star team and added 31 saves to finish at 484. He passed Art Messner) and the great Ted Dever (75 - 93, 3.62 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 1153 K) to move into a 4th place tie with Paul Hogan (80 - 72, 2.90 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 1170 K), Chris Malone (66 - 94, 3.21 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 1354 K), and Juan Quintero. His next save will give him sole control of 4th and he is 25 away from 3rd place Justin Marco (74 - 84, 3.53 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 1197 K). It is doubtful that Calgary will pay him what he wants so it looks like he will be heading into free agency. He may not be an everyday closer this year, depending on who signs him, but somebody has to give him at least 1 save and maybe many more.
