Goodbye Dexter Morgan

The Marauders traded 3B Dexter Morgan to Indy today for 2 prospects and some cash. The team had been shopping him for over a month and didn't have too many teams express interest. Morgan was the team's 1st round pick in 2016 and has been the starting 3B for the past 6 seasons.

"We kept giving him chances to turn his season around, but he seems to have lost his swing," manager Victor Noe said. Morgan was hitting a measly .180 this season and is set to be a free agent at the end of the year. "I've got to give the at bats to somebody that is going to be here next year and can help us win the division. I wish Dexter the best, maybe a change of scenery will help him."

In his 6 seasons in Calgary, Morgan hit .241, 110 HR and 380 RBIs. Always a free swinger he stuck out 847 times and only walked 286. His best year was 2019 when he hit .290, 31 HR and 90 RBIs.

The team received 2 prospects and $3 million dollars in cash from injury plagued Indy.

RHP - Diego Garcia (R) - Garcia has struggled this season in the bullpen at Rookie ball but long term the team projects him as a starter. He has good intangibles and keeps the ball in the park. At only 17 years old the team can take its time with him.

RF - Alfredo Soto (AA) - The 20 year old is already fully developed, but the team is hoping some more time in the minors might get him a bump. A lefty that hits righties, Soto has speed and a decent glove. He is a long shot to make the majors but at 20 there is still a chance.
