Crawdad Chronicles 63.03 - John Lucas to test Free Agency

Today Crawdads SP John Lucas will test free agency after 12 years with the club.

John Lucas was a former first round pick from the Jacksonville hurricanes in 2048. After a stint in the Edmonton farm system, he came to the crawdads as a key peice in the 2050 trade that sent CF Xavier Rangel to the Jackrabbits.

Lucas had the best career after taht trade. Shortly after the trade, he skyrocketed to the #3 prospect in the league, and made his debut with the crawdads in 2052. It took him a couple years to find his footing, but in 2056 he had a league leading 18 wins. the next 3 years were pretty solid as well, leading him to sign a 5 year 45M contract extension with the club.

But in 2060 his magic disapeared. And the last 4 seasons have been poor. In 2063 he was 8-18 with an ERA north of 7.00!!!

Although he does desire to stay in New Orleans, the club does not seem inclined to offer him a multi-million dollar deal after seeing his decline.

Yet, he will test the free agent market. Some team is likely to take a chance on him.
