2063 was a bad year in new orleans. One of the shining pieces amidt the horror was Closer Eduardo Jiminez. In his first season with the club, he was on track to be a (likely) run-away rookie of the year winner. He layed on the voodo and appeared in 27 games, he amassed 17 saves, with a perfect ERA of 0.00, and over one strikeout per inning.
The former first round pick from General Mills in San Diego quickly worked his way up from AA and AAA ball to the major leagues - and then his Lucky Charms ran out.
On Monday June 25th, against Las Vegas Hustlers, in the top of the 9th, after getting the first 2 batters out, Hustlers SS Antonio Edison hit a routine ground ball to the shortstop. As was typical for the crawdads this season, Crawdasds SS Enrique Estrada fielded the ball and tossed it over the 1B head for his 13th (out of what would eventually be 27th) error of the season.
The next batter was OF Tankut Saltik - and something diddent seems right. After taking teh count to 3-2, Saltik doubled into left field scoring Edison, the only run allowed by Jimnez this season (albeit unearned). Manager Luiz Hernandez went to the mound with Trainer Joe Holden in tow - and decided to pull Jimnez from the game.
His season was over. Diagnosed with a Torn Labrum - once a sure-fire career ending injury in the BBA, he underwent the knife - and will be out until Spring Training.
"Its dsiapointing" said GM Jim Roberts. "Im so sad for him - he had such a great careeer - but thanks to modern BBA medicial advancements, we'll fix him up and hope he can be ready in the spring"
