Today with 2 outs, in the bottom of the 9th, Juan Donestavez stepped up to the plate againt the Charlotte Flyers. He hit a fly ball to centerfield. The Game was over. His career was over. Immediately following the game, Donestavez announced his retirement from the BBA.
Its a sad day, but one to celebrate on the streets of the Big Easy. One of the all-time greats, and on the "Mount Rushmore" of New Orleans Baseball history, OF Juan Donestavez has retired.
The team expects to add him to the wall of fame in the coming seasons to commemorate his career.
He finishes his career with 2 MVP titles, 1 Landis Title, 11 All Star Game selections, 5 Pucketts, 2 Yogi's to go along with 506 HRs (56 all time), 670 Stolen Bases (37th all time), 1179 Walks (50th all time), 2 Sawyer Silks,
Rumor has it he wont stay far from the club. Insider believe he will likely come back as a hitting coach with the club in the near future.
