In somewhat of a surprise move, the New Orleans crawdads today resigned OF Juan Donestavez. https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 43014.html

Donestabez will be 40 years old on opening day, and clearly has his best years behind him.

Assuming he stays healthy, and plays a considerable sum of time, he has a chance to hit his 500th Home Run in a Crawdads uniform. He is already #1 all time on every single major category in New Orleans (WAR, Runs, Hits, Singes, Doubles, Triples, Home Runs, RBI, SB and Walks).

He signed a 1 year 7.4M contract extension, and will likely be a DH as he was the last couple seasons. His glove is now pretty much gone. But he stills stole 40 bases last year as a 39 year old.

So one more year. But its hard to see him hanging on too much longer. Not many players still contribute after age 40. But Donestabez isnt your typical player.

Unlikely he’ll get it if he sticks around. Only had 7 this season and he’s toast. First ballot HoFer regardless.

We’ll see how this offseason shakes out…but he is pretty much toast. I can’t see bringing him back for any real cost. I was hoping for 700 SB as well. That one may be more likely.
