Crawdad Chronicles 57.07 - New Orleans re-signs Donestavez

In what may look to be a bad move by some, and certianly the rear view mirror will prove them right, the New Orleans Crawdads annonuced today an extension with OF Juan Donestavez that may keep him in a dads uniform until he retires.

Donestavez will be 37 on opening day. He is currently on IR with a strained groin.

But GM Jim Roberts decided to bite the bullet and sign him to a 3 year 25M contract. It is a team friendly deal, as he will only count about 8M towards the cap in 2058, and has a couple team options for future years. He also has a No Trade Clause - something the Crawdads have been reluctant to include in any players deals - but seemingly acknowleging that they will not be able to trade him anyway, they went ahead and acquiesed to his demand.

New Orleans will surely look for some additional outfielders in Free Agency, but for now, they have locked in one key peice.

Now they just hope he can deliver, and provide the value that they are hoping for.
