SP Arnold Cantrell really emerged in 2056.
the 10 year vetaran was almost a throw-in to the deal that sent Billy Kelly to Rocky Mountain and Micah Harrington to New Orleans. But in his 2 years with the 'Dads he has been pretty good.
After spending 8 seasons as a releiver and closer for the Brooklyn Robins, Rocky Mountain signed him to a monster 2 year/26M deal after the 2055 season. Rocky mountain tried to convert him from a closer to a starter - starting his first 12 games of his career with the Oysters. Then he was traded to New Orleans where he has been a starter every time he hit the mound. In 2055 in about a half season of work, he continued his progress - with a 3.81 ERA in 12 starts.
But 2056 was different. He led the league in Innings pitched with 254 - which ia about a third of his career innings pitched over his 10 year career. He went 14-12, with a 1.36WHIP, and a 5.2 WAR
His success this season, combined with the monster deal he signed last year when he was a free agent, and his arbitration number for last season (14.2M) really has new orleans scratching their head. Was 2056 an abberation? Is the 29 year old still on an upward trajectory? Is he worth the 6 year $94M contract his agent is trying to get for him?
Some of those questions will be answered in free agency - but it doesnt look like any of them will be answered within the friendly confines of the Commanders Palace.
