Crawdad Chronicles 56.05 - Parkinson may be on his way out

Post by JimBob2232 » Sat Oct 28, 2023 10:16 am

New Orleans has gotten an amazing amount of production out of OF Brad Parkinson.

Parkinson was signed as a Free Agent 2 years ago. In those 2 years, he hit 81 Home Runs, 216 RBI, and a combined 4.6 WAR. his bat will be very difficult to replace. But he will be 36 years old entering next season - which makes signing him to the type of salary he may command in Free Angency difficult for the 'Dads.

GM Jim Roberts said he would still like to have Parkinson back - but recognizes the challange. "We'll continue to talk to him, and stay in touch with him as this process plays out - and if there is some way we can make it work - we'd welcome him back with open arms"

Unfortunately, due to league rules, New Orleans will not be eligible for a compensation pick for his loss. Given recent league rules, making the playoffs means they will not get such reward. Given their boot out of the playoffs in the first round, perhaps New Orleans would have been better off on the outside looking in.
