Crawdad Chronicles 55.06 - Anderton and New Orleans at Deadlock

As new orleans prepares for its future, there are some players in near term limbo.

One of them is SP Steven Anderton.

Anderton was signed to a 3 year 12M deal in 2051 after coming up through the UMEBA farm system before becoming a free agent and switching over to New Orleans. He has had some success going 15-11 in the 2054 campagign, but regressing a considerable amount in 2055. Still he posted a 3.0 WAR. But he has one more arbitration year left before hitting free agency again. Anderton is reportedly unhappy with the direction the team is heading, and is asking for a considerable sum of money for a long term contract.

That amount may be more than New Orleans is willing to pay at this juncture. New Orleans may look to trade him this off-season if they cannot get to a long-term deal.

A lot may depend on the new manager and how much a splash New Orleans makes in the offseason.
