Crawdad Chronicles 51.01 - Second best season EVER!

Post by JimBob2232 » Thu Aug 04, 2022 4:57 pm

In the last 40 years, The New Orleans Crawdads have made the playoffs 29 times and won 4 Landis Trophies. Only one of those years (2020 when they did not win the Landis) did they have more wins than the 108 they finished with in 2051. In fact, if you go back to 1973 - and each of the 7 Landis seasons, they only once had more wins than 2051.

It was a miraculous season. 3 weeks before opening day, their star SS Felipe Reyna ruptured his achilles and has not been seen since. Then Star SP Christian Burgos pitched exactly 4 outs on opening day before tearing his rotator cuff. Ant 2 time Sawyer Silk winner Juan Donestavez was on his way to winning a 3rd, when he missed the month of August with a herniated disk.

All those variables aside, New Orleans fought. And fought hard. The pitching staff led the Frick League in just about every meaningful statistic - and without Burgos - still scored the top 2 candidates in the Nebraska Race between Garcia and Kelly.

New Orleans hopes the season wont end soon. They will take a series off to rest. With their last Landis in 2019, the team is certainly hoping they can prevail in 2051.
