Crawdad Chronicles 50.04 A look ahead

Post by JimBob2232 » Mon May 09, 2022 4:54 pm

New orleans bowed out a little earlier than desired in the playoffs this year - but with almost everyone returning, and some key call-ups, and some budget room, look for them to be strong candidates again in 2051.

The largest looming departure is 3B Mal Fountain, who the club hopes to retain. Also gone are OF Kim, SP Don Smith, and a few role players. New Orleans also has 35M to play with.

Retooling the infield, finding some SP help, and replacing some lost OF production seem to be the goals for the offseason. SP help wont come cheap. OF help will. If last year is any guide, there should be plenty of free agent that make it through to the preseason unsigned. Thats where NO will look for some good help.

At 3B, New Orleans will likely reshuffle the current squad (assuming Foundtain isnt resigned). 2B Gary Robertson looks poised for a bigger role.Turcotte, Mhina, Keretu and Reyna will all fight for the 3 infield slots.

New Orleans could also be a player at 1B - a position that will also be a bit cheaper to fill.

Either way - look for new orleans to come out strong again in 2051.
