Crawdad Chronicles 47.01 - It's Getting Hot in Here

Post by JimBob2232 » Sun Jun 20, 2021 6:09 pm

The New Orleans Crawdads are getting hot.

After starting the season 7-13 and bottoming out the the JL Atlantic, New Orleans has pulled off an impresive run since 25 April. After going 29-12 in their last 41 games, the crawdads are only 5 games back in the JL Atlantic, and are right back in the thick of things in the wild card chase as well.

GM Jim Roberts noted how disapointing things have been the last few seasons, but also noted that those are behind them. We need to look forward - and this team is playing as well as anyone right now.

The top 2 in the Johnson league ratings in batting average are 2B Jose Sanchez at .378 and Juan Donestavez at .373. Those two have been carrying the team though as overall the Crawdads rank 9th in the JL in Batting Average (Note: Mal Fountain is also hitting .328 but the whole team is at .271 - HOW is that even possible? OUCH)

The pitching staff has been respectable. Long Time Ace Jim Armstrong was starting to get back to respectability, but has now torn his labrum and is probably out for the season.

Should be interesting summer in New Orleans. Is it feast or famine? Or is this current trend something that will continue? Time will tell.
