Crawdad Chronicles 95.2 - Future Bright in New Orleans

Post by JimBob2232 » Sun May 23, 2010 11:11 am

Though the current state of the team is bleak, the New Orleans front office gives the fans something to look forward to in the near future.

Despite their current 45-78 record (good for 2nd worst in the MBBA), New Orleans boasts one of the best minor league systems around. In this version of the Crawdad Chronicles, we will profile some of the names you are sure to hear in the next 3-5 years.

Rogelio Morales, 1B
A great defensive first basemen. Outstanding Power potential and contact potential, this 18 year old has the potential to be something special. The #1 overall prospect in MBBA will be brought along slowly. Clearly he is the future of the franchise, but he is potentially 3-4 years away from making a difference in the big leagues. Look for him in AA Monterey next season.
Lindsey Jacinto, 2B - Another future stud. This #3 prospect in MBBA was hitting .366 in Single-A Aspen before the current rejime bumped him up to Triple A without even a stop in Monterey. Definitely one to keep an eye on, but is likely a year away from making an impact at the next level.
Matias Ferrero, C
May require one more year down in Habana before he is ready for the major leagues, his biggest obstacle is Crawdads All Star catcher Champ Kind, who's numbers are worthy of MVP consideration. There simply is no room for Ferrero on the MLB roster. Ferrero has also shown some ability to play 1B, but Morales is blocking his path there as well. Despite Ferrero's huge potential ability, look for New Orleans to trade him for a couple other key peices of their rebuiling process. Despite what big league team Ferrero winds up on, you can be certain he will be a future star in the MBBA.
Jason Stucky, OF
Probably the most MBBA ready of all prospects in the organization, the 25 year old stuckey is hitting .258 with 15 HRs for AAA Habana. Look for a possible september callup, and perhaps a starting job for New Orleans next season.

New Orleans also possesses 2 1st Round draft picks next season (One of the top 3 overall, plus Las Vegas's). The future reamains bright in New Orleans.
