Today the New Orleans Crawdads announced thy have acquired well known and popular OF Cris Martinez from the San Fernando Bears
The 25 year old Martinez https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 41775.html has been dominate in San Fernando. In his first 5 seasons he has hit 179 Home Runs. His 162 game slash line is .269/.348/.497 with 36 HRs and 107 RBI. He is a bit of liability in the field however.
New Orleans has been despareate for OF help going back to last season. Stud OF Donestavez https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 43014.html is a lock, but Xavier Rangel https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 40970.html is no stud in center, and Lionel Crepin https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 35361.html was really signed as a one year stopgap. There is really nobody in AAA that is ready to step up.
New Orlenans also recently claimed OF Antonio Rivera on waivers from Las Vegas - although there has been some concerns with him in the clubhouse.
It will be interesting to see how New Orleans gets Martinez in teh lineup. Will he replace Marousek https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 38106.html as DH? Will Donestavez slide over to center while Rangel takes a spot on the bench?
Regardless, with Donestavez, Rangel, Rivera, Crepin and now Martinez, New orleans has a stable of outfieldwes with power who should help New Orleans compete for a Johnson league title and beyond.
