SP Jim Armstrong - one of the premier young arms in the game was signed to a 5 year 91M extension this season.

Armstrong - an ironic name for a guy with 14 stuff and a fastball that clocks in well over 100 MPH and has a history of arm troubles - will now have a chance to become a legend in New Orleans history.

When he has been good...he has been very very good. In 2043 he led the leage in strikeouts with 266 (13.3 K/9). His 3.26 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 6 WAR somehow only translated into 11 wins. That has been the story of his career it seems.

Acquired from Rockville in 2036 as part of a deal that sent SP Dave Martin to Rockville to revive his career - Armstrong has been plagued by injries. he missed 12 months with a torn rotator cuff in 2041. Had some significant sholder tendinitus in the past as well.

New Orleans has signed him to a front loadeded contract - hoping he can hang on for the length of his conract - and continue to dominate and take New Orleans back to the promise land.
