38. Its a number for Jared Gillstrom. https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 24319.html
Not because he hit 38 home runs this year. Not because of his 3.8 WAR. But because he did it at 38 years old.
The sure fire hall of famer had another remarkable year. 38 HRs was good for his 6th most in a season. 4 of those other seasons he won the Sawyer silk. His 3.8 WAR is the best he had since 2039. He is now up to 564 career home runs - now #10 all time. If he can keep this up for couple more years, he might find his way into the top 5.
Through all of this - he somehow managed to miss the all star game. A severe oversight of the BBA GMs. A player of this caliber deserves a spot as long as he is playing - and certainly when he is playing at the level he is.
He probably wont be back in his hometwon of New Orleans last year. Gillstrom knows this. He has seen this before (spending teh 2039 season with the crawdads before signing with San Fernando in the 2040 offseason). The 'Dads would surely like to have him back, but his inability to be successful at 2B is a major hinderence to them.
So for now, the 38 year old Gillstrom hits free agency for the 3rd time in the last 4 years. Where will he wind up for the 2043 season?
