Jackson, just 27 years old, fills a critical gap in the New Orleans OF. Returning just CF Xavier Rangel https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 40970.html from last years starting lineup after the loss of Carlos Gonzales https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 25719.html and Virgil Shafer https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 408.htmlin the offseason, Jackson is slated to to be the everyday left fielder.

GM Jim Roberts notes that Jacksons bat is the key driver here. Obviously, we like his power. He is going to give you 40 HRs a year and fill a monster hole in our lineup. We are sitting well below the cap, even with this signing we're still 15M below the cap this year and 35M below the cap next year. With such a young team, we thought this was an important time to shore up a gap.
