Crawdad Chronicles 41.05 - Mark Dempsey to be honored on Wall of Fame

Today the New Orleans Crawdads announced that 3B Mark Dempsey will be placed on the Wall of Fame next season.

Dempsey came to New Orleans from humble roots. Originally from West Valley City, Utah, Dempsey, at the age of just 14 years old, was not drafted in the 2017 BBA draft. After a few weeks of silence, the assistant to the regional General Manager gave him a call, and offered him an opportunity. Dempsey saw his first professional play at just 14 years old for the All Saints Blue Claws.

As he matured as a young teen, he got better and better with the bat. Still a fresh faced 20 year old when he made his debut in New Orleans.

In the subsequent years (mostly with New Orleans, but also some time with Montreal and Mexico City), he smashed 456 Home Runs, good for 43rd on the all time list. He also has over 2,100 hits.

About the only blemish in his tenure is that he often seemed to disappear when the team needed him most. In his 85 postseaon games, he hit a pawltry .228 with just 13 home runs.

The 7 time all star should be a contender for the hall of fame. But at a minimum he will be immortalized on the wall...at least as long as there is a wall..at Karen Huckfeldt Memorial Stadium

Editorial Note: Dempsey is apparently being asked to join the staff in Bartlett as a hitting coach, so this may not be the last we ever hear from him!
