Crawdad Chronicles 34.03 - Crawdads call up Cravat
Yancy Cravat has received his 3rd call-up to the Major Leagues. This time he is hoping to stick.
Cravat, a top of the line prospect with a big bat, will geta a chance for the next few weeks while regular 1B Luke Pratt is on the DL with a strained oblique.
Cravat, who already has 30 HRs in 92 games for AAA Havana will again take his big bat to the big Easy, but what is different this time around is that he is also taking his glove.
Cravat was always envisioned to be a 3B GM Jim Roberts noted. However, after 6 seasons trying to work on his glove there, he still had no positional rating by OOTP. Quite frankly...he was terrible. With a -16 ZR in 43 games this year, and -25 ZR last year, it looked desitned that his big bat would have to be a DH in the major leagues. But Jim Roberts took a swing and put the 6' 5" 215 lber at 1B. And from june to July 2034, one month, OOTP has steadily increased his 1B rating from 0 to 7.
Based on the progress he has made at 1B in a short period of time, we almost wanted to leave him in AAA to see how good he can get. But with Luke on the DL, we need a big bat, and Yancy can give us that.
He might just stick for the long term. Pratt has a big bat as well, so there will be some fighting for who gets to play 1B every day, but between the two of them, they are likely to push out Juan Parra from an every day role. Parra hasnt hit over .236 in the last 3 years, and although he has hit 79 HRs over that time frame, Cravat is likely to be able to match that production.

Agree....but I am okay with it. I’m not sure why he never panned it at 3b. Would rather him there to replace Dempsey. But at least he turned into something serviceable.RonCo wrote:Defensive progress on this one is weird.

I still can't believe how quickly Pratt exploded after we cut him.
