New Orleans GM Jim Roberts announced this afternoon that SP Sergio Franco will not be available to the club for the Cartwright series.
Franco, in his rookie season, went 7-7 with a 3.41 ERA, and was looked at as a possible savior after SP Miguel Datiz and Gabriel Alfonso went down with major injuries earlier this year. Unfortunatly Franco strained his forearm in september. He was scheduled to be back for the Cartwright cup, but he has suffered a setback.
He is day-to-day, GM jim roberts noted. But we just dont want to take a chance with him. If we move past this round, we'll re-evaluate, but for now we are going to stick with what has gotten to us this far.
Freddy Delgado and Hector Ameral are clearly leading the way, but they have received good production out of hsin-pei Gui and Yoshimatsu Yamaguchi this post season as well.
No matter how you slice it, the starting pitching this season has been phenominal. Here's to hoping it lasts another few weeks.

I have no clue how Datiz did what he did this year. You could argue batted ball luck, but the walk rate is what is incredible.

More to the your point, it's nice to have all those good young arms. I think people slept on your teaam this year a bit. I doubt they do it going forward.

Yeah, I’m kinda hoping Datiz opts out of his deal. Doubt he does though.

There's a natural tendency to discount younger guys, but New Orleans has some nice hitters coming up, too. Unless injuries pile up, the Crawdads are going to be solid for a long time.
