Crawdad Chronicles 33.02 - Crawdads trade Venegas

Post by JimBob2232 » Mon Dec 18, 2017 6:17 pm

A promising pitching prospect is on his way out of New Orleans.

SP Javier Venegas, a 3rd round pick in the 2028 draft was traded today to the Atlantic City Gamblers for a pair of prospects. Venegas is a promising pitcher, whom the crawdads once wanted to be an ace in their orginaization. But after a careful review of the pitching staff, and a couple other prospects who are "ready for the show", the crawdads decided to make a move. Venegas hasn't exactly been lights out in New Orleans. In his 19 games, he has an ERA of 4.91, which helped to make him expendable.

"Venegas has potential to be great" said GM Jim Roberts. But we knew that with Datizhaving an all-star (or possibly Nebraska) like season, combined with Delgado, Amaraland then two other young kids (Sergio Franco and Yoshimatsu Yamaguchi), something had to give. This gives us a chance to rebuild our farm system while not having potential future aces locked up in AAA.

In return, the crawdads got OF Virgil Shaffer(7/7/8/6/7), a talented youngster with speed. The crawdads hope to grow him into a center fielder, and SP Ricardo Valenzuela, who probably projects more as a good closer or reliver than a starter.

Either way, the crawdads feel they got a good return for a promising arm.
