Crawdad Chronicles 32.05- Crawdads find gold in Venezuela

Post by JimBob2232 » Sat Oct 21, 2017 7:00 am

In June 2032, Crawdads scouts happened to be in Venzuela looking for talent. They didnt come back empty handed. When the lead scout happened to stubmle across a pickup game 30 miles from the center of Venenzuela, they ran across 3B Mario Barrera.
Barrera, just 16 years old, impressed the scouts with his ability to be an all around player. "He has great potential. For a kid as young as he is, he has all the offensive potential to be a major league player"

He doesnt have alot of speed, and that probably will never change. But as long as he can become serviceable with his glove, and continue to develop his offensive skills, look for him in New Orleans in the next 5-7 years.

One to put on the radar screen, and one to make watching the international league this year all the more interesting.

It's nice when the scouts find a guy who will actually play.

Wow. Nice find. Just curious, how often does everyone get a guy like this?

It happens now and again. I've got a bullpen guy on mine now who will be coming up. Should probably write an article on him sometime.

he bumped quite a bit after signing, but Tai hoi Wie was a scouting find for me back in the day.

A decent number of scouting finds bump. I was wondering more how often the game finds someone that looks like an MLB player. I've had 1 in 10+ seasons. (one other initial no talent that bumped into a good BBA player)

I had the one that find I traded away last offseason. I don't think I can can recall another potential All-Star right at scout signing day.

I've had one who looked like (and is becoming) a star: Vicente Chavez. I've had two borderline ones Lou (was a find by YS9) and Jose Garcia.

Dusan Kukcenjac was a nice Christmas present for us last year. Had a couple of other decent guys who projected to bench players and bullpen arms right off the bat. Increasing international scouting definitely helped. I went through some lean years where I had to cut the budget and it showed.
