Crawdad Chronicles 32.02 - Dempsey & Alfonso return from DL

Post by JimBob2232 » Sat Sep 09, 2017 3:58 pm

New Orleans, riddled with injuries in 2032, has gotten 2 key peices back. 3B Mark Dempsey and SP Gabriel Alfonso both return from the DL this week after extended absences.

Alfonso is an under-rated star in the New Orleans staff. with 55 wins over the past 4 years, he has been an anchor in the back end of the rotation. With Miguel Datiz and Freddy Gonzalez out until at least the start of next season, he will be asked to step up into the #2 role for the rest of the season. Alfonso spent the last couple weeks on a minor league rehab assignment in Havana, but after a couple of good outings, the Crawdads front office believes he is ready to return to regular duty.

Also returning to the big Easy is start 3B Mark Dempsey. Dempsey's bat was sorely missed from the lineup. In June he wound up tearing his ankle ligaments, and was out for 6 weeks. Dempsey, a 6 time all-star was hitting .263 with 17 home runs when he went down. That production was not replaced.

New Orleans has struggled in 2032, and will probably continue struggling, but there is no doubt that getting Dempsey and Alfonso back is a big step in the right direction.
