Crawdad Chronicles 99.2 - All Arms on Deck!

With the newfound glory of many young starts, the Offense in New Orleans is starting to hit its stride. Only one problem...stopping the opponents from scoring!

The 1998 Edition of the Crawdads had a team ERA of 5.38, 11th in the Frick League. While this is a significant improvement from where they were at the mid-way point, if New Orleans has any shot at taking home a division title, they need to get some arms...and quickly!

Robert Grove, the aging star of the rotation has been good. New Orleans had 10 different pitchers start games this year...and none except for Grove Excelled. Domingo Jean had flashes of brilliance, Gansfield and Dedeaux were out for a total of 7 months, and the usually reliable Sean Boskie was MIA.

The pen was no better, in fact it was worse. Mid-Season acquisition of Daniel Marquette did little to quench the thirsts of opposing hitters. The good news is that there is some talent coming up through the farm system...but its at least 2-3 years away. Look for New Orleans to be active on the Free Agent pitching front this off-season.

Should be some options on the free agent market, and even more on the trade market this offseason.
