Crawdad Chronicles 45.02 - New Orleans trades for Outfielder
Today the New Orleans Crawdads announced thy have acquired well known and popular OF Cris Martinez from the San Fernando Bears
The 25 year old Martinez https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 41775.html has been dominate in San Fernando. In his first 5 seasons he has hit 179 Home Runs. His 162 game slash line is .269/.348/.497 with 36 HRs and 107 RBI. He is a bit of liability in the field however.
New Orleans has been despareate for OF help going back to last season. Stud OF Donestavez https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 43014.html is a lock, but Xavier Rangel https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 40970.html is no stud in center, and Lionel Crepin https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 35361.html was really signed as a one year stopgap. There is really nobody in AAA that is ready to step up.
New Orlenans also recently claimed OF Antonio Rivera on waivers from Las Vegas - although there has been some concerns with him in the clubhouse.
It will be interesting to see how New Orleans gets Martinez in teh lineup. Will he replace Marousek https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 38106.html as DH? Will Donestavez slide over to center while Rangel takes a spot on the bench?
Regardless, with Donestavez, Rangel, Rivera, Crepin and now Martinez, New orleans has a stable of outfieldwes with power who should help New Orleans compete for a Johnson league title and beyond.

Cris Martinez. Clearly he was traded because they took his job.

martinez is an every other year wonder that i just didnt have the money to keep. It would be ironic if he took marousek's job given that Marousek came from me back in the day (in the freddy delgado deal).

Marousek just never panned out. Nice 10 contact. Fielding never developed (even at 1B). And his average isnt good enough and representative of a 10 contact. Maybe its my park.usnspecialist wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 1:34 pmmartinez is an every other year wonder that i just didnt have the money to keep. Marousek’s off to a good start at least (*small sample size warning!*). Regarding not panning out or being representative of ratings, I’m unfortunately seeing the similar results lately with a similar type player in Ismael Alfonzo (10/10/8/3/11 vs LHP). Hoping he turns it around.
Anyways, I’m not a fan of all these Frontier teams making moves in late spring training and now into April...nice move, Jim!

*kicks lazily at a tire
I'd be ... umm... in the market for Marousek, if, you know, he's available.
