Soon to be sophomore Alonso 'Huckleberry' Flinn (7/6/5), who led all Kernels last season (2061) with 590 plate appearances, is said to be excelling at learning a new position. Mum's the word, on which position he's trying to learn, though, and the reveal is four days away. I hope it isn't center field.
First base would be a lot better; in fact he might wrangle his way into starting at first despite whatever he's up to in the D-Lab. JR's 2059 round 1 pick, and his first ever, had his power rating ease into its highest expected value (6), and the team isn't sold on Carlos Rodríguez as the team's starter at first despite his nine home runs in 40 games in '61. This also explains why the AI of the team (hey, don't blame me!) drafted four or five first base-eligible players in the Rule 5, many of whom have already been returned to sender.
Flinn will start at first in spring training, as the team takes the old-fashioned route of learning Flinn a new position. The recent signing of Wan-ling Koo to a six-year deal means the incumbent left fielders, including Flinn, have had to look elsewhere in the defensive array for a starting spot.
