Des Moines Kernels Team Hall of Fame (wow!)

Post by JRamirez » Thu Jul 18, 2024 4:30 pm

So, there's nothing in column AN on the Participation Point Tracker. Believe it or not a DMK team Hall has not been established until right now, on Monday, November 10, 2059. Team owner Walter Wilhelm, 67, threw out the first pitch. Or something. Maybe he hung up his shingle. The DMK HOF, or DMKHOF, for short, has been built into a renovated 1847 farmhouse previously owned by Dexter Durhouster, one of the original Wells Fargo mail carriers. "The barn gives our team Hall an old-timey ambiance," Wilhelm said. Observers have said that it's old without much tech. Wilhelm replied that the floors have been waxed.

First ever inductee (2060 DMK Hall, BBA Hall 2042)

C Cisco Arreola #46
Probably not many teams have a catcher as first team Hall of Fame inductee, but Des Moines now does. Arreola is the all-time leader in WAR (59.6) for DMK as well as second in total bases, second in doubles, third in slugging, fourth in OPS, fourth in home runs (336). After a dozen seasons (2026-2037) for the Kernels he hit 96 home runs elsewhere in the BBA. He was a 7-time BBA all-star, the FL most-valuable player in 2034, and 10-time Golden Bat award winner as catcher. The Venezuelan was inducted into the BBA hall in 2042.
